GlaxoSmithKline is an international pharmaceutical company with origins in New Zealand. Peddle Thorp was engaged as the designer for their new office fitout and we worked to a tight design/documentation time frame. Construction commenced late July 2011 and GSK took possession late October.
GSK have a property department located overseas which sets the strict office branding and planning parameters. The planning principles were that there were no offices and the open plan working environment would have the bench workstations, in clusters of four, positioned around the external full height glazed walls to allow access to sunlight and views. Meeting rooms and telephone rooms were located around the core with full height glazing allowing natural light. This fitout had to accommodate both the Consumer and Pharmacy divisions which are independent business units within GSK.
A contemporary reception/waiting area and general fitout reflecting the company’s forward thinking were proposed. All new furniture was obtained for this contract and allowed for an integrated package. The solution is a very functional and spatially well utilised plan which reflects the corporate brand standards and provides a fresh and dynamic office environment within a medium budget range.
