The client brief was to create a display suite to take potential purchasers on a journey through a visual gallery, illustrating the concept and spirit of Botanica, culminating in a “built” apartment. This modern example of sustainable living comes in the form of sixty-seven units with the display suite located in a neighbouring heritage building which, at the time of construction, was undergoing seismic upgrade. It was important for the design of the display suite to reflect the key elements of the architectural concept while keeping the integrity of the existing shell.
The space, formerly a large café with high exposed concrete ceilings, polished concrete floors and black steel windows, was transformed into a welcoming show suite to show off all that the coveted Mt Eden location and Botanica has to offer.
The interiors of the apartments were designed with the architectural design in mind, carrying on the project’s “uncooked muesli” theme. Tweedy materials were intrinsic to the design; a balance of earthy tones, textures and natural materials provide a palette which provides a modern and airy feel that appeal to all tastes.
