The striking Lumley Centre occupies the most elevated site on Auckland’s Shortland Street.
Located on the former Northern Roller Mills site between Shortland Street and Fort Street in downtown Auckland City, the project was developed in a partnership model incorporating the specifications of the principal tenant, lawyers Simpson Grierson.
Level nine is the main Lobby entrance accessed directly from Shortland Street. This level provides a covered drop off for visitors, and a catered lounge style lobby with adjacent outdoor landscaped areas. Below this is an eight storey podium accessed from Fort Street below, containing principal tenant carparking, and a business centre and gymnasium on level eight.
The upper levels house Simpson Grierson’s entertaining and conference facilities, including decks with commanding views over the Waitemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf. The office floors are large at around 1300sqm, with a central core featuring five Miconic 10 lifts and a dedicated goods lift as well as male and female facilities.
The building’s distinctive blue glass features double glazing and low-e coating to ensure further energy efficiency, while it’s high visible light transparency affords uninterrupted panoramic views of the Hauraki Gulf.
Peddle Thorp’s high rise experience helped the developer move into a new scale and project type by providing the certainty necessary for securing the anchor tenant.
