BALLANTYNES

We are proud to have worked with iconic Canterbury department store Ballantynes to design a new building for their Lichfield street frontage.  Ballantynes lost two  adjoining buildings and 2550 square metres of trading space in the February 2011 earthquake, and this development replaced two temporary structures erected post-quake.

Ballantynes Atrium. central Christchurch. Architectural design by Peddlethorp.

The development features two floors of retail, with commercial office space and car parking above. The new shopping space links seamlessly with the existing, and features cafe and deli at the base of a triple-height glazed atrium. Peddlethorp completed the base building design with Buchan delivering the interior fit-out.

This building is an exciting addition to a revitalised Christchurch retail precinct, and an integral part of the Ballantynes retail experience.
