About this Project

A speculative project for a massive 700,000 sqm mixed use retail / office / residential development in Zhengzhou China. The design draws from ancient geometry applied as a regional, then local, then design specific ordering tool. The planning integrates the local street pattern through the resultant city block while the lower retail levels feature a roof-park inclined to connect to the street. Two landmark towers mark the site as an arrival point in a city established as a national railway hub.

The proposition at first brought a smile to our faces - how much floor area!!?? This ancient region of China with its location the link between China and a far distant West provided a deep sourced of ordering a unique development through the application of ancient geometry. Looked good- where did that Client go? And where’s our design!
